What Is The Endocannabinoid System?

Did you know cannabis has been used as a medicinal plant since the beginning of human history?

Despite it's name, the endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a much bigger roll than just getting you high. Actually, the endocannaboid system may have the most receptor sites out of all the receptor systems in your body.

While its true the ECS does allow the body to interact with the compounds that get you high, it's main function is to keep your body in chemical harmony and balance - or 'homeostasis.'

Homeostatis is critical to obtaining overall body wellness and happiness, and the ECS is the regulator of that balancing act. ECS regulates pain, appetite, sensation, inflammation, mood, stress response and more. Not only in humans, but in animals too!

CBD - also known as cannabidol - is a molecule known as a cannabidol, which is a class of molecule unique to the hemp plant. CBD is produced by female hemp plants in the leaves and the flowers. Any cannabis plant with less than 0.3% THC content is classified as hemp. Hemp is not considered a psychoactive drug, as it can't get you high.

While CBD can be obtained from non-hemp (high in THC) cannabis plants, CBD derived from hemp is considered safer for commercial use due to it's inherently low THC content. CBD produced from hemp is legal for sale in all 50 states. CBD produced from strains high in THC is still legal, but subject to stricter laws and regulations.

Cannabidols are produced by hemp plants to protect the plant from insects, fungus, bacteria and environmental changes. This creates a unique aroma and antioxidant profile.

Let's start with a fact - endocannabinoid receptors in our body are a natural thing, and endocannabinoid themselves are a natural thing that exist in our body. But what is CBD?

CBD is the non-psychoactive component of cannabis. CBD is extracted from the same plant as THC, but it works on different receptors within the body. We have CBD receptors (CBD 1 and CBD 2) not just in the brain, but all throughout the body. Cannaboids do have an effect in our brain, but most of all they have an effect on our bodies. They interact with our inflammatory system, our immune system, our appetite, or anxiety regulation and so much more.

This is why everybody is talking about CBD - it's an amazing molecule with so many positive effects and uses that has a chance to change the way we look at health and healing forever. Again - CBD cannot get you high, so it's legal in all 50 states.

As we said before, CBD has some amazing effects.

Have you ever had a cup of coffee? Chances are you have, so you know the excited, almost anxious feeling caffeine gives you. The reason caffeine makes you feel this way is due to adenosine, which is a neurotransmitter in the brain. Caffeine blocks adenosine. This means you get more excited, as adenosine would usually relax you.

If you have a lot of adenosine in your body, that means you're going to feel very calm and relaxed, so caffeine has the effect of energizing you by blocking your adenosine. CBD effects the adenosine receptors in your brain by increasing their activity. You might be thinking - does this mean CBD has the opposite effect of caffeine? The answer is - kind of!

Caffeine consumption has a large effect on your adrenaline levels, which is what gives you the energy. Consuming CBD will seriously slow down the adrenaline, letting your body relax. This doesn't mean you're going to feel super sleepy, it means you're going to benefit from an amazing calming effect. This is why so many people are using CBD - for it's ability to slow down your bodies natural stress response.

Another amazing effect is on our dopamine receptors. Dopamine is our bodies feel good chemical, and CBD naturally increases the bodies utilization of dopamine - this means we're not taking an outside source, we're not taking a drug. We're helping our bodies use what they already have more efficiently by enhancing receptor sensitivity.

Where does your CBD come from?

All of the hemp we use for our CBD products is organically grown, pesticide free, NON-GMO and grown in the USA.

How does CO2 extraction work?

CO2 extraction uses pressurized carbon dioxide (CO2) to pull CBD from the plant. CO2 extraction is the most commonly used extraction method, as it is safe and provides a very pure end product.

How is your CBD extracted?

We use C02 extraction. C02 acts like a solvent, but possesses none of it's dangers. It is safe and effective.

What makes Cure By Design CBD so pure?

Everything we produce goes through a 3rd party testing facility to guarentee our product is free of THC. In addition to that, we only work with the finest 100% organic American grown hemp.
